Inner West

Inner West

Inner West

Sydney’s Inner West is home to some of the city’s oldest terrace style houses. Sticks & Stones Landscape Design understand this requires not only an appreciation for heritage, but also creativity to utilise the small spaces that are the product of the terrace courtyards. Heritage in areas such as Glebe and Annandale might be more stringent with the council as apposed to Alexandria. This would require more active engagement with the council to ensure the heritage of the home and garden is acknowledged.

Given the limited space that is often found in the Inner west’s homes, it is important the outdoor space is utilised to it’s full potential. Although designing in a small space can be difficult, it can also be extremely rewarding and effective.

Eastern Suburbs

Eastern Suburbs

The Eastern suburbs of Sydney are greatly characterised by the coastal landscape they wind around. This means the environment and plants are dictated by the climate and conditions of their location. An understanding of plants and horticultural appreciation is required, in order for a garden to be successful in this ocean and salt hardy environment. Suburbs such as Coogee and Bondi would be considered first line salt, therefore more hardy plants would be chosen for the garden design as apposed to a garden in Darlinghurst.

Sticks & Stones Landscape Design work with the habitat and apply this knowledge to create and design long lasting, low maintenance gardens.

Lower & Upper North Shore

Lower & Upper North Shore

Lower & Upper North Shore

The leafy North shore of Sydney is diverse as it stretches from the Sydney Harbour to the Ku ring gai National Park. A considerable part of the area is hilly, meaning the homes are located on difficult and steep blocks. Suburbs such as Gordon and Killara would provide opportunity for a larger scale garden design, while suburbs like Lavender Bay, would allow the occasion to highlight and accentuate the location and view of the harbour. As the geography varies across the North Shore, so does the homes; changing from compact terraces to grand scale. Sticks & Stones acknowledge these variances and apply these considerations into your garden design.
